Canada’s Controversial Crime Bill

Canada’s Conservative majority government has introduced a bill that would make
major changes to the way justice is administered in this country. Bill C-10 would,
among other things, stiffen penalties for young offenders and force judges to apply
minimum mandatory sentences. In this News in Review story we’ll look at why the
bill is controversial and travel to Texas to see how similar legislation has worked out
